Madge Ivy Theresa Ross Obituary
Madge Ivy Theresa Ross

Madge Ivy Theresa Ross (Perkins) our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away on the morning of August 16th in the peace of her home and surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. It was a beautiful sunny day. A day in which she would have otherwise preferred to have been sitting on her side porch reading her books, drinking her tea and writing a letter or two. She was born in London, England March 14, 1920 and in 1944, with her dashing RCAF pilot husband, our Dad, and newborn baby Ian, took a troop ship across the Atlantic and settled in Vancouver, British Columbia and later Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1962 The family immigrated to Seattle, WA. in the U.S.

She leaves behind her loving family and a wonderful community of friends, neighbors and dear ones from around the world. From her lovely old home in the Greenwood area in Seattle she was the touchstone of our family. The very wisest of elders who always, with the highest degree of graciousness, provided her family, friends and relatives a safe haven and welcome home for all to return. Her home was filled with her books, of which she was always reading 3 or 4 at the same time, letters, cards, photographs and just about everything that anybody had ever given her or made for her. She loved: live theater, opera, ballet, a good joke, a glass of sherry, a good cup of tea, good conversation, English TV shows, and Vanity Fair. She loved her family dearly and our Dad, James Anthony Stewart Ross, who predeceased her in 1995. For 52 years they were a true inspiration to their family and to all who knew them. We know that they are today dancing in Heaven and saying "What on earth are those kids planning now?"

She will always be remembered, loved and greatly missed by her family of six children: Ian Ross, Heather Adams, Keith Ross, Clive Ross, Lesley Hodder, Barbara Ross-Burns; sons in law: Ivan Hodder, Roy Adams, Steve Burns; daughters in law: Susan Ross and Shawn Ross; grandchildren: Ian, (Laura) Colin, Matthew, (Megan) Geoffrey, (Claire) Juli, Cameron, Brian, Derek, Kevin, Mary, Blair, Brooke; great-grandchildren: Riley, Abby, Josh and Chad; friend/surrogate son Ken Watson and many other surrogate children; her dear brother in Wales, Aubrey Frank Perkins (Stella) and various nephews and nieces in the UK and the US.

To those of you who knew Mum well, it is comforting for us to know that in the end, she was able to suit herself. A Memorial Service will be held at Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle on Saturday, August 24th at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that remembrances be sent to Providence Hospice. Please go to to sign the guest book for our Mum.

A special thank you from the Ross family goes out to Dr. Stanley Kantor, her personal physician for many years.
