Margaret Beckman Fettig, former teacher and administrator in the Auburn School District, passed away on June 15, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Margaret began teaching in Seattle in 1959. She taught in Auburn from 1961-1993. She was Auburn's Teacher of the Year (1968) and past president of Auburn Education Assoc. She was interim principal at Gildo Rey Elementary in the early 90s. Margaret met her husband, Al Fettig, while both were teaching at N. Auburn (Dick Scobee).

Margaret was born 2/11/37 in Greencreek, Idaho, the fourth of 10 children. She graduated salutatorian of her high school. She attended Lewis-Clark College (treasurer), and graduated from Eastern Wash. Univ. She obtained a Master's of School Administration Degree from Seattle Univ. Margaret was a past president of Beta Sigma Phi.

Margaret was active in the Mother Mary Guild at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Kent). She volunteered for many years at the Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent. She enjoyed family, friends, travelling, cross-word puzzles, ceramics, reading, red hat outings, and volunteering in her son Michael's classroom.

Margaret gave of herself completely to everything she did, with grace and wit. The end result was usually better than perfect. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend. Not a moment goes by without her being loved and missed. Margaret is survived by her husband Al; children Michael & Kristi; 3 sisters, 6 brothers, and 4 granddaughters.
