Peg (Margaret Price) LEWIS Peg (Margaret Price) Lewis died on Feb 11 2011. She lived a long, full and adventurous life. A strong and independent woman, she ventured throughout the less travelled parts of our globe. Armed only with a small shoulder bag and newly-learned bits of the local language, she explored from Borneo to Madagascar to Tibet and beyond. Born in New Jersey, she was educated at Duke, Harvard and the University of Washington. In 1947 she married Ray Lewis and settled down to raise two children. They moved around the country settling in Washington D.C, Minneapolis and later Seattle. Following Ray's death, she worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor at the University of Washington and Queens University, Ontario. She later lived in Taos, NM and Pt. Townsend, WA, settling in Seattle for her final years. She gathered friends wherever she went, enriching local communities through her generosity and participation. She was an active member in community theater with the Democratic party, and a leader with the League of Women Voters. In her career, she championed the enforcement of child labor laws and the rights of disabled people to work and be accepted as equals. She believed in giving back to help leave the world a better place. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Peg is survived by her children and their spousesâ€"Steve Lewis & Verna Harms, Kathy Lewis & Dick Chasman; sister, Betty Price; cousin, Mildred Perlow; Grandchildren and spouses Alaron Lewis & Erik Schmidt; Aurana Lewis; Doug & Joyce Chasman and Mike and Heather Chasman, and great-grandchildren Alex, Mac, Elle and Aidan Chasman. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
