Marie J. Engeland

Born on February 2, 1921 in Minot North Dakota. She passed away peacefully on November 7, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Issaquah. She grew up around Berthold and Des Lacs, North Dakota and graduated from high school in 1939. She met and later married Alfred Engeland on January 31,1942. Shortly thereafter, Alfred joined the army and was stationed in the South Pacific for the duration of the war. During the war, she received her teaching degree at Valley City College. After the war, they settled in Towner, North Dakota until 1951 and then moved to Renton and raised their family. Marie enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the Mariners and the Sonics. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie was predeceased by her parents George and Kathryn Benedict, her loving husband Alfred Engeland in 1988, sisters Evelyn Fetters, Bernice Thorsen, and Mary Hansen, and her brother Herbert Benedict. She is survived by her daughters Marcia Gaines of Renton, Cynthia (Mitchell) Regis of Issaquah, and sons Maynard (Carol) of Issaquah, Dennis (Shirley) of Renton, and Curtis (David) of Mercer Island. Marie is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Private grave side services and burial at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
