I loved you so much, Martha! Meeting you thru your brother at the ripe age of 20, you had a big influence on my life. Letting me move in one summer and the 4 of us camping, dancing, laughing. Oh we had fun! We were so fortunate to have you for our nanny those first years and your calm presence and take charge attitude helped in so many ways. You always took the time to play board games with them as many times over as they asked! And hid the Easter eggs over & over & over! They were thrilled with your attention. As we all were. I will love you and cherish memories of you forever. Rest in peace, dear Martha.

My sister Martha was full of loving kindness. You could see it clearly in her beautiful eyes & feel it in her presence. She always had a smile for everyone. She touched the lives of many with her brilliant intellect and her wonderful sense of humor. She faced her illness with strength, courage & grace. She never complained. I loved her and miraculously, she loved me, too. The world lost a bright light when she passed on. She is happy now with the Lord and her family. I will see her again someday. I wish it could be today.

I will always remember Marta although I didn't spend much time together I was aware of her life and I remember good times in her company. She was a special person, her energy and humor was unique.

Whenever I was in Martha's company we always enjoyed fun and laughter. She sent a card, with an added loving message, when my Mom died and I still have it. She also sent a crocheted item, via my daughter (who is married to Martha's brother, John) which exactly fits a small ceramic box I have on my dresser. The last time I saw Martha she was in good health and I feel fortunate that I can remember her that way.

martha is my little sister. she grew up wide eyed and innocent. as a young girl she learned "hand work"; embroidery, crochet, knitting and needlepoint from our grandmothers miller and patten. she kept this up for most of her adult life. of course, she shared her work liberally. later she did stained glass and many of her pieces grace our homes today.
she was smart and funny and hardworking.
she was my daughter, marta's, first 'nanny'. she lived with us and made those first months possible.
martha and i were so close for the first parts of our lives and she will always mean the heart of caretaking to me.

I just learned today that Martha had passd away. It has been more than 25 years since I have seen her but my heart is heavy and I was so sad to hear this news. I, too, always remember her laughing, her outrageous and fun comments (my favorite was, of course, not printable here), her caring and joyous spirit and often no-nonsense, tell it like it is statements. I have many pictures of Martha from my "old life" and she is smiling in every single one. I will be forever grateful for the time she was in my life, and will remember her always.

Whenever I remember Martha, I always see her laughing heartily and tossing around that dynamic wit of hers. I've great memories of her spunky nature and those sparkling, smiling eyes she wore. Above all else, she made me laugh ~ a wonderful legacy!
