 Mary Edith YELLAM July 28, 1933 ~ March 31, 2012 God embraced Mom and took her into His glory after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's and Diabetes. Her family had the privilege of being by her side. Mom is rejoicing with God and reunited with her husband, son, parents and brother and many loved ones who have gone on before her. Mary Yellam was born on July 28, 1933 in Seattle, WA to Bill and Delia Danaher. Mary had one older brother, Jack Danaher. Mary attended Saint Edward Grade School and Holy Names Academy. After High School she worked for Pinkerton's National Detective Agency. In January 1955 Mary Danaher and John Yellam were married. Mom and Dad were blessed with seven children. As a young mother of seven, she would clean the church, feed the poor, and spent countless hours working for the FISH Organization and later Saint Vincent De Paul. When the eldest graduated from high school, Mom worked at Yellam's Tavern for awhile and then went back to school and landed a job with the U.S. Secret Service. Mom absolutely gave everything to that job and loved every minute of it. Mom had a vibrant personality and a passion for life ~ she was the life of the party! Oh the places she went! Mary was a traveler and we all enjoyed hearing her endless stories of the places she ventured to. From kissing the Blarney Stone to venturing around Italy she traveled great miles to see the places she loved. Mary was proud of her Irish heritage. She never wanted us to forget that there was Irish blood in our veins. Mary made an impression on everyone she met. She was fun, energetic, and especially happy. She never let anything get her down. We always called her "Pollyanna" because she never complained; she always saw the bright side of everything! Most importantly, Mom taught us to be humble, love, give, care, succeed, be happy and to have faith in Jesus Christ. Mom was a pillar of stability and a true lady of grace. Mom leaves behind a legacy of Christian morals and values. What an awesome role model she is! The wonderful staff at the Providence Mount Saint Vincent loved her and made sure her needs were met - she was their favorite! Mary was a woman of strength and inner beauty, a strong encourager; even in her final days she made it to church every morning and the Rosary every afternoon. Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband Johnny, son John, parents Bill and Delia Danaher, brother Jack Danaher, nephew Kevin Monroe. She is survived by her seven children and their families: Kathleen Eggers (Jeff Mash), Marty Yellam (Liz), Patty Mengarelli (Henry), Frank Yellam (Carol), Mary Alexander (Bob), Deanne Yellam Sposari and Estelle Yellam. Grandchildren: Brandon Eggers (Nicholl), Elyse Mengarelli, Michael Yellam (Leticia), Maria Eggers, Bobby Alexander, Jamie Yellam, & Johnny Mengarelli. Great-Grandchildren: Jaxon Maras and Sophia Yellam. And, so very loyal to the end, Sister-in-Law: Stella Primon, Niece: Marilyn Gomez (Dick). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Mount Saint Vincent Foundation, 4831 35th SW, Seattle, WA 98126 and/or Saint Vincent De Paul c/o St. Edward Church, 4212 South Mead Street, Seattle, WA 98118. Public viewing & visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 2:00 PM, at the Columbia Funeral Home, Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Services will be at Saint Edward's Church, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
