Mary Soderland Obituary

Mary Elizabeth "Bunny" SODERLAND Bunny died April 1, 2008 of cancer. She was born on September 25, 1922 and raised in Seattle, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1940. On June 8, 1946, she married Stanley C. Soderland, a Seattle lawyer and, later, a superior court judge. They were happily married until his death in 2001. They raised four sons in the Laurelhurst area of Seattle and on Shaw Island, where they had a second home. In 1979, they moved to Shaw full-time. Bunny traveled the world extensively up into her eighties. She was a knitter and weaver, working in a log studio built by her son. In 1993, they moved back to the Seattle area. In 2000, she moved to Bayview Manor in Seattle. She is survived by her sister, Allester Dillon of Mill Valley, CA; her brother Glenn Sutherland's widow, Iva Suther land of Seattle; her brother-in-law, Ken Soderland of Friendswood, TX; her sister-in-law Goldi Rawie of Leaven worth; her sons, Carl of Kirkland, Stephen of Bainbridge Island, David of Sammamish and Douglas of Seattle; her daughters-in-law, Kathleen Sabo, Noyu ri Soderland, Janice Baird and Parcae Morford; and her grandchildren, Hilary, Dylan, Lauren, Ingrid, Erik, Colin, Devin and Morgan. At her request, there will be no services. Memorial gifts may be made to Children's Hospital.
