Mary Segrave-Mulhall

September 19, 1920 ~ October 2, 2013

Mary was born in Liverpool, England to Joseph & Esther Mulhall, the sixth of seven children. She attended St Monica's, St. James Select School for Girls and the University of Liverpool until the outbreak of World War II.

Mary proudly served as a dispatcher for the Liverpool Fire Brigade during WWII. After the war, she worked for the U.S. Army in Germany where she was witness to the Nuremberg War Trials. In 1947, Mary immigrated to the U.S., met her husband, James R. Grizzell, and raised seven children in Ferndale, Michigan. After their divorce she reverted to her maiden name, moved to Seattle, Washington in 1979 and reentered the work force.

Mary was a parishioner of St. James Cathedral, Seattle and active with the Peace & Justice committee. She was employed at Boeing until her retirement in 1990. Mary was a 23-year breast cancer survivor. She lived in Ballard, Seattle until 2011 when she relocated to live with her daughter's family in San Anselmo, CA.

Mary is survived by her seven children, Steven Grizzell (Saara) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Denise Grizzell, Seattle, WA, Constance Grizzell (Michael Beutel), Sonoma, CA, James Miles Grizzell, Seattle, WA, Lesley Grizzell (Keith Platte), San Anselmo, CA, John Grizzell (Lisa), Highland, CA, and Andrew Grizzell (Judy Dang), San Francisco, CA, and seven grandchildren, Genevieve, Kate, Elise, Kiera, Silas, Joshua and Jonah.

You had a great mom, who I remember as having tremendous energy! Growing up on Webster was full of great memories thanks to your family, the Huber, Bober, Olsen, Alfords and others. It was a great time and place to grow-up.
