Melissa Youssefi Obituary

Melissa Mary (Peringer) YOUSSEFI Melissa, 48, lost her thirteen year battle with cancer on Sunday, March 13, 2011 peacefully in her own home in Seattle, Washington. Born May 26, 1962 in Bremerton, Melissa graduated St. Joseph's School on Capitol Hill, then went on to attend Bishop Blanchet High School and Western Washington University. A very loving and giving person, who found it impossible to say no, she devoted many volunteer hours to several worthwhile causes. These included many parental activities at her daughter's schools of St. Joe's and Holy Names Academy. Besides her daughters, Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Moe; her two daughters, Sarah and Samantha; her parents, Mike and Shirley Peringer; and her brothers, Forrest Michael and Nicholas and her sister, Amanda. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Matthew. Melissa was taken from her family by cancer, and she is known for her amazing upbeat attitude and caring heart. Melissa was an amazing, strong woman; known for her courage and strength to everyone who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful, loving friend, and will be remembered for her constant smiles and kindness. She always had a useful piece of advice and was a great friend to all who knew her. Melissa always put others before herself and was the most amazing woman to have ever lived. She was a caring and generous person that touched the life of anyone and everyone she ever met. She will be remembered for her energy, charisma, and passion for life. She will live on in our hearts forever. There will be a memorial mass at St. Joseph Church on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made in Melissa's name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation @ wwwProvidence.org/hospice@Seattle.

Dear Peringer and Youssefi families:
We are very saddened at the loss of Melissa. I remember babysitting the Peringers many times; and Missy (as we knew her then) was always sweet and helpful. We reunited when our kids transferred to St. Joe's. Melissa was just as kind and welcoming then.
We hope that beautiful memories help your healing.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

To Melissa's family, I am so sorry to learn of your tremendous loss. I was on the Parent Board with Melissa at Holy Names. Although I did not know her well, there were many other moms who did; and all spoke so very highly of her.

I am a breast cancer survivor myself, so it makes my heart ache to know that Melissa lost her battle. Please know that all of you are in my prayers.

Moe, Girls and the Perringer family, we are deeply saddened by Melissa's passing. Her spirit was felt in so many ways. Her courage and your faith has been an inspiration to us all. Please accept my deepest sympathy and understand you are all in our prayers. Our friendship on Capitol Hill while growing up was only enhanced by our years together at Christ the King. We were all very lucky to call her our friend. God bless.
