Melissa Rourke Obituary
On Tuesday January 23, 2018, Melissa Rourke of Lakewood, Washington unexpectedly passed away in her home from unknown causes. She is survived by her sister, Allyson Rourke, her nephew Ryan Schatschneider and her parents Rosalyn and Philip Rourke.
Melissa was born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 9, 1978. She grew up in Clyde Hill, Washington. Melissa graduated from Lakeside High School in 1996. She majored in Philosophy and graduated with honors from Yale University in 2000. Melissa earned her Juris Doctor law degree from Georgetown Law School in 2004. She practiced Environmental Law with the State of Washington Attorney General's Office in Olympia until 2013. From then until her passing, Melissa worked as a Life, Nutrition and Fitness Coach. In the last year of her life, she also served the role of spiritual advisor to individuals who sought out her council.

I was Melissa's first supervisor when she first started at the AGO. I was impressed by her intelligence and upbeat, but quiet personality. She was always one of my favorite "hires". I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Melissa was such a kind-hearted and lovely person. Although she was a brilliant lawyer, I think many of us fellow lawyers admired her for following her heart and becoming a life coach and personal trainer. It seems that everyone who knew Melissa was affected positively by her in some way. We miss her.

It is so difficult to come to grips with this sad news. Memories of Melissa's smile, her laughter, her wit and inspiration are keeping her close in my thoughts these last few days.
