Michael Peter Álemán Obituary
Michael Peter Álemán

Michael Peter Álemán, born June 14, 1955 in Inglewood CA to Michael and Eva (Angelini) Álemán, died suddenly in Taichung City, Taiwan on May 15, 2018. He was the proud and loving father of Gabriella Eva-Laurine Álemán and Raphaëla Naomi Álemán.

The Álemán family returned to Seattle in 1957 where Michael Peter attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Kennedy HS. He then entered St. Edwards Seminary in preparation of becoming a Jesuit priest, but realized that his true calling was education. He received his under graduate degree from Washington State and a master's degree in Philosophy from Gonzaga University. Michael continued studies in: Linguistics; Education; Modern Languages (Japanese, Thai, Taiwanese, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and American Sign Language ASL); History; Greek Mythology and Latin.

Above all, Michael was a teacher. His immeasurable knowledge of language and of human nature and development gave him insight into his students and their learning. Michael was gracious and exceptionally patient with all those who had time to learn. He taught everything from Greek Mythology and Philosophy to Kindergarten. He connected with students around the world, teaching in the US, Japan, Malaysia, Canary Islands, Thailand, Kuwait, Singapore and Taiwan. His students showed their love for him through their obvious admiration and eagerness to learn. He can be described as creative, genius, generous and above all, kind. His exceptional intellect allowed him to demonstrate a wonderful sense of humor and he was a world class cook, able to whip up delicious meals in multiple cuisines from memory.

Michael Peter was predeceased in death by his mother, Eva, and survived by his parents, Michael and Giovanna Álemán; sisters Patty Cates, Kathy (Dan) Frederick, Diane (Dave) Leicht; brothers Larry Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez and Michael (Lynda) Ramirez; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces and eternal friend, Naomi Nelson.

Our family wishes to extend our deep appreciation to Wade Hsu (Taiwan) and Jim Tan (Singapore) for their help and guidance in preparing Michael Peter for his journey home.

Services will be held June 16th, at 1 pm at St. Edwards Church, 4212 S. Mead St., Seattle 98118
