Miyoko Enomoto Obituary

Miyoko ENOMOTO Miyoko Enomoto, 81, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2011, surrounded by her family. Miyoko was born on May 20, 1929 in Tsugawa City, Niigata, Japan. She moved to Yokohama early in her childhood, and that was where she later met, and married, Yoshito Enomoto, aU.S. Army Veteran, with whom she raised three children. Miyoko was preceded in death by her husband, Yoshito, in 1970. She is survived by her daughters Helen Maeda and Eileen Sugisaki (Osamu); son Michael Enomoto (Tomoko); and eight grandchildren (Larry, Lisa, Ikue, Yukio, Kaori, Sarah, Shelley, Sean). In 1979, Miyoko left Japan and moved to Seattle, WA to be closer to her children. She worked for many years at Bush Garden Japanese Restaurant in the International District. Upon retiring, she pursued her passion for traveling, dining with friends, and playing a little bingo at casinos. Her family will remember her most for her great love of life, and how she cherished being "grandma" to all of her grandchildren. She will dearly be missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Providence Hospice of Seattle for providing care and support for their mother during her illness. A special thank you goes to John A., Sheila, Chris T. and Christine for the smiles and loving care that they brought to our mother every week, and for the help they gave us in preparing our mother for her next journey. We request that any remembrances be made to: Providence Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Avenue N. #300, Seattle, WA 98109. No service will be held at Miyoko's request. She will be buried together with her husband, Yoshito, at Evergreen Washelli Seattle.

Happy late birthday Obaa-chan. Hope you celebrated in style and your birthday was absolutely amazing.

My second year of teaching wrapped up a few weeks ago and now I can breathe, relax, and just enjoy the summer. I'm going back to Seattle in about 2 weeks to see the whole family, which I am looking forward to. We'll have a few gatherings with Aunty Helen and the cousins, which will certainly be fun filled and something I'm really looking forward to. Certainly will not be the same without you. Take care and just know I miss you always.

Happy happy birthday Obaa-chan, hope your birthday was nothing short of amazing!!! I miss you and hope heaven is treating you well.

Finished my first year of teaching as an Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric at a university in North Carolina. The students are lovely, my colleagues are amazing, and I feel like this is a place that allows me to grow as a teacher, which is great. I wish you could see the city of Fayetteville, outside of the humidity, the place has a lot to do and I think you would have liked it. Again, I miss you and hope to see you again one day. Take care.
