Nancy Hoagland Obituary

Nancy Goodnow HOAGLAND 85, was born on March 12, 1925 and passed away on January 22, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born and raised in Aberdeen, WA and graduated from University of Portland Nursing School in 1947. She moved to Seattle after graduation and was married to Floyd Van Fleet Hoagland (who preceded her in death) in 1951. In early years she worked as an x-ray technician and she also worked as an RN at NW Hospital from 1966 to 1988. For Nancy faith and family came first and she devoted herself to her five children. She loved her many friends and enjoyed traveling and spending time with them. She especially enjoyed her beach getaways whether it was in Grayland, WA; the Oregon coast or Hawaii. Nancy was an avid gardener. She was a wonderful, involved grandma and recently a great grandmother. Nancy is survived by her children: Catherine Hoagland, Nancy Hughes (Randy), Sally Hoagland, Mary Hoagland (Alex Kutsick): and her son, Tom Hoagland; grandchildren: Heather Hansen (Dan), Jessica Hughes, Molly Kutsick, Alexa Hughes and Lucas Kutsick; and great granddaughter, Mackenzie Hansen. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Hoagland. A Rosary service is scheduled for 7pm on Friday, Jan. 28, at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Avenue S, Edmonds; with Funeral Mass scheduled at 11am on Sat., Jan. 29, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 322 N 175th Street in Shoreline. Memorial Donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.

My sincere condolences to all of Nancy's family. I always enjoyed visiting, and I admired how this kind and loving matriarch nurtured and surrounded herself with her wonderful extended family. Keep strong, enjoy each other and your fond memories of all the good times past.

Just seems like yesterday that we were neighbors and our kids were playing together. Those were great memories. All of these years we have kept in touch and we are really going to miss Nancy. Nancy was a sweet, wonderful woman - always very gracious with something nice to say. She raised five children on her own and endured alot in her life and I always admired her strength and positive attitude despite adversity. I will miss her! Sending lots of love to her family.
