Nicolas Christo Obituary

Nicolas H. CHRISTO Nicolas Harry Christo was born on February 20, 1931, in Queteze, Albania, to parents of Greek descent and passed away on March 26, 2011, shortly after his 80th birthday. To escape the Communist takeover of Albania, he and his family fled over the mountains to Greece in 1951 and eventually made their way to Seattle in 1952. After working several years in the family furniture business, Doces Majestic, he joined the US Army and served our country for six years. Upon returning, he worked for 30 years at the Washington State Department of Transportation retiring in 1989. The following years were spent doing what he lovedbest: hunting and fishing, gardening at his Camano Island retreat, and always volunteering at the annual St. Demetrios Festival; his broiled chickens were unsurpassed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Eleni, son James Christo, daughter Eva (Steven) Aaron, and granddaughter Ally Aaron. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 31st, at 11:00 am, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 Boyer Avenue East, Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

My good friend I will miss you ! I will always be grateful to you for all that you shared with me . Me being a young and dumb kid being assinged to the famous Nick the Greek ! in the sign shop . You made the hard times with the wsdot just another burp in a day . I always will remember how you taught me the art of sign making and how to hack the damn fools who kept trying to get the secrets of your sign art . i will always remeber the advice of life you shared and forever be gratfull for all you did to raise me up Thankyou my very good friend and farewell in your journey in Heaven Brian K. We will miss Christo, That's what we use to call him when he was working in the sign shop at the DOT. He was always one of the guys when we were giving one of us a hard time and kidding around. I remember We always took bets on who would come back from our West Port fishing trips on who would catch the biggest fish, after a few years of him catching the big one we would never allow him to catch another big one as it went to his head and he would never let us live it down. He was a great guy and we will miss him. So long old freind.
