Norma Handorf Obituary

Norma J. (Honn) HANDORF Norma J. Handorf (Honn), life long resident of Seattle, passed away3/11/2011. The youngest of two daughters, Norma was born 3/23/22 to the late Seattle Sheriff Murray & Pearl Holmes. As a young singer for the USO during WW II, Norma met her future husband, George Handorf, of Oak Park, Ill., while performing at Ft. Lewis. After a brief courtship, they were married in the living room of mom's family home. They celebrated their 45th anniversary on Feb. 21, 1988 one week prior to dad's death. Mom grew up across the street from Fire Station #9 in Fremont & lived her last few years at Merrill Gardens at Northgate & Foss Village & Home in Greenwood. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all the firefighters for your friendship & fond memories growing up across from Station 9. Your kindness & compassion shown to mom & dad was above & beyond the call of duty. We also thank the staff at Merrill Gardens & Foss Village & Home for their compassionate care during her stay with them. She is survived by her loving daughters & their husbands, Susan & Michael Atkinson, Sumner & Marilyn & Bob Smith, Seattle; grandchildren Michael (Amy), Wenatchee. Stephen (Selena), Tacoma & Emily & Kelly Smith, Seattle and great grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Ava & Molly Atkinson, Wenatchee & Azalea Atkinson, Tacoma. She is also survived by many friends & relatives who loved her dearly & will miss her greatly. Mom was predeceased by sister & brother in law Dorothy & Ben Adams & her second husband, Frank Honn. Memorial service will be Sat. March 26 at 12 noon at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Medic One, Providence Hospice or charity of your choice. We love you mom. Rest in peace.
