Patricia Collins Small Obituary
Patricia Collins Small

Patricia Collins Small was born March 11, 1928 to Cy and Maggie McGrady Collins at Providence Hospital in Seattle. She passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure on March 22, 2013 surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her Magnolia home. Patty grew up on Queen Anne Hill attending St. Anne's, Holy Names Academy and Seattle University, where she met her husband of 56 years, Alfred Small. Patty and Al settled in Magnolia in the home Al built for the family and where they raised their eight children. Patty and Al were one of the founding families of Our Lady of Fatima Church and School and all eight of their children attended Fatima. Patty loved books, music, education and travel. She was a Camp Fire Girl and kept those friendships throughout her life. Patty and Al explored the world from China to Africa to Eastern Europe and everywhere in between. Patty especially enjoyed visiting her children when they lived in foreign countries making at least 20 trips to see her network of friends and family in Ireland and Montreal. Patty spent every summer for 50 years at the family beach cabin "Smallsville" and she felt blessed to spend her final summer there. She valued education and remained intellectually vibrant to the end. She took pride in her children and grandchildren's educational achievements. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gerri and husband Al. Her life is celebrated by her eight children: Mary Jo Cranker (Glenn), Joe Small, Marian Arment (Nick), Bill Small (Sue), Maureen Small, Margaret Bomber (Andrew), Rosie Burns and Jim Small (Nancy), as well as 17 grandchildren: Alice & Bob Cranker, Jhomar, Justin, Jessica Small, Annie Krause, Jim Arment, Beth Bergevin, Alisa Arment, Collin, Grady and Keegan Small, Ben, Monica and Daniel Bomber, Kennedy & Maddie Small and 3 great grandchildren: Peter & Ben Krause, Jabin Arment.
