Patricia GARLAND Obituary

Patricia Joan CAMPBELL GARLAND 1937 ~ 2011 Our Mother, Patricia Joan Campbell Garland passed away on Feb. 27, 2011 after a year long battle with cancer. She was born in Seattle to Ray and Mip Campbell on July 11, 1937. She was raised in Burien, graduating from Highline High School, and attended Washington State University. Patricia married James Wright on June 15, 1957. Shortly after, they moved to New Jersey and started their family, having 2 daughters. In 1966 they moved back to the Seattle area, residing in Renton. Their 3rd daughter was born in 1968. They divorced in 1971. Patricia married Barry Garland in 1985, whom she was estranged at the time of her death. Patricia was a longtime Boeing employee, where she made many life long friends. She retired in 1997. After retirement, she spent the spring and summer months at her home on Hood Canal and winters in Palm Desert. Mom became very involved in the golf community where she lived, and made many special friends. Her passions in life were gardening, golfing, politics, travel and most importunately her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Patricia leaves behind her brother Ray, three daughters: Susan (Terry), Sally (Mike), Christy (Allan), as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mom, you were an inspiration to all of us. We will miss you every day. We knew Patty from the Oasis Country Club where we both had homes and golfed together. We would see each other at parties and club dinners. Patty helped out on committees and was very enthusiastic about improving her golf. We will miss her very much.

I will never forget Pat. I knew her from when she was just 2 years old on. I was 8 but we got along well despite the age difference. Our mothers were very close friends and we lived in homes with identical floor plans, just 2 doors apart. We really missed the Campbells when they later moved to Burien from the Wallingford district, but our friendship and get togethers continued throughout the years. She was pretty, kind, generous and talented. I have 3 children too and we chose to name our third one, a girl, after her. An irony is that Pat was born on my brother's birthday but he was 9 years older. Pat will be missed in this world which needs more women like her. Sincerely, Carolyn Deahl Parsons, Morrison Colorado.

Pat was a dear friend of mine for 36+ years. We met when our youngest daughters entered kindergarten, and over the years we have been a part of each other's families. Susan, Sally and Christy were the love of her life as well as their children and grandchildren. Pat, you fought a valiant battle and I am so sorry that you had to suffer. Please know that my family will miss you very much. You were a lady to the nth degree and will be missed by many. Rest in peace dear friend.

Love,
Ruth
