Patricia Josephine (Reader) Gallagher Obituary
Patricia Josephine (Reader) Gallagher

Pat, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday September 7, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.

Pat was born March 14, 1924 in Bismarck, ND, 13th of 16 siblings.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Joe and 14 siblings.

As a devoted mother, she is survived by her four children, Patricia Ahlgren, Lawrence Gallagher (Sabina), Mary Eshpeter (Frank) and James Gallagher (Jill); grandchildren Sarah, Jennifer, Katie, Corey, Tiffen, Travis and Griffin; great- grandsons, Quincy and Gideon; and great-granddaughter, Solveig. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Mae Cole.

In 1938 (age 13) Pat moved onto the Gallagher Ranch in Joyce, WA where she met Joseph Gallagher and would later marry him. At age 14, she moved to Port Angeles where she worked for her room and board, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1942. She later worked for National Park Service, Crown Zellerback in Port Angeles and later retired from Seattle School District in 1989 after 18 years.

Pat married Joseph Gallagher September 11, 1948 where they resided in Port Angeles until they moved to Seattle in 1958, where they bought a Dutch Colonial home in the Greenlake area. In 2014 she moved to Maple Valley, WA with her daughter, Mary and husband, Frank.

Pat very proudly served in the US Navy as a Wave during World War II. She was proud to be an American and loved her flag. She was a member of the American Legion and a devout Catholic belonging to St. Benedict Parish for over 60 years.

She enjoyed sunbathing, reading, knitting, gardening and traveling, but most of all, she loved her 4 o'clock beer.

Pat was a very generous woman and opened her home to many. She was loved and will be missed by all.
