1927 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Peter Michael Chudecke Obituary
Peter Michael Chudecke

Born August 26, 1927 in Superior, WI;

died July 7, 2018 in Kirkland, WA.

Survived by Rita, his loving wife of 69 years; his children, Debbie Galloway (David), Michael Chudecke (Kathleen), Mark Chudecke and Carol DiGiovanni (Frank); Grandchildren, Kelsey, John (Audrey), Alianna and Michael; Great-Granddaughter, Linley; and his sister, Clarice Nowak.

Peter was part of a large farming family with 13 brothers and sisters in rural up-state Wisconsin. Life on the farm held little promise for Peter, so he moved to the city at age 16 to independently find his way in the world. With the completion of high school where he was honored as the commencement speaker for his academic achievements, Peter joined the Navy.

Following his honorable discharge, Peter climbed into the cockpit of a small private airplane piloted by his brother, Joe and flew from Superior to Seattle arriving July 4th, 1947. Peter called Seattle home for the balance of his life, and enjoyed recreating with his family in the mountains, coastal and inland waterways, and sub-arid environment of the Pacific Northwest.

He met and married the love of his life, Rita Dilly, in Seattle where they shared the next 69 years of life together. His career path included 25 years of service in the Seattle Fire Department, rising through regular testing and promotion to Battalion Chief. Following his retirement, he partnered with Rita in pursuing a second career buying, selling and investing in real estate. Their business flourished, and despite their hands-on management, it allowed them the opportunity to live life comfortably and travel extensively.

Peter loved the Lord and regularly prayed and attended Catholic Church services. While life was an adventure and fulfilling for Peter, nothing made him more-proud than to be the patriarch of his family who he deeply loved. Peter was a huge presence in his family's lives. He will be missed tremendously. We look forward to the day when we will all meet again in Heaven.
