Richard Weber Obituary

Richard F. WEBER Richard F. ("Dick") Weber passed away on January 14, 2011, at University House in Seattle. He was 86 years old. Dick was born in Sacramento, California on September 13, 1924.He was raised in Alameda and attended University of California at Berkeley. Dick volunteered for the ski troops, which later became the 10th Mountain Division, and fought in Italy in World War II. After the war, Dick completed his undergraduate work at Whitman College and attended graduate school at Johns Hopkins and Harvard. Dick entered the foreign service in 1956 and was posted to Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He later worked in the Congo and west Africa, and served as Director of the Agency for International Development's Offices of South American Affairs and Central American Affairs. Dick moved to Seattle in 1993, where he continued to pursue his main avocations of birds, bridge and books. He volunteered extensively with the Seattle chapter of the Audubon Socie- ty and marched at the WTO protest in Seattle with members of that chapter. In recent years, Dick had been an active and enthusiastic member of the wonderful community at University House in Seattle. Dick is survived by his children Cristal, Ray and Eric, all residing in the Seattle area.
