Richard Maffe Obituary

Richard Joseph MAFFE TORRINGTON, WYO...Funeral Services for Richard Joseph Maffe, age 79, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Rollie Raboin officiating. Cremation will take place following the service and private family burial will be at a later date. Richard died on December 11, 2004 at the Goshen Care Center. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and the casket will be open following the service. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his memory to the Maffe Memorial Fund at Eastern Wyoming College. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home. He was born on April 5, 1925 in Bellaire, Ohio the son of John and Esther (Zola) Maffe. Richard grew up an received his education and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1943. Following high school, he went on to attend Ohio State University where he received his education as an accountant. After college he became a CPA. He married Elizabeth Rabe in Bellaire, Ohio on April 15, 1950. The couple then moved to several different areas, starting in Bellaire, then to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tampa, Florida, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and to Sebastopol, California. Richard retired in 1990 after serving as a CPA for 50 years and in 1993 the couple moved to Torrington. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading and antique collecting. He is survived by his two daughters Amy and her husband Robert Piper of Davie, FL; Molly and her husband Dave Christopherson of North Bend, WA; three sons Stephen Maffe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; James Maffe of Torrington; William Maffe of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, one son Thomas and a brother Joseph.
