Richard Lee Kelleher Obituary
Richard Lee Kelleher

Richard Lee Kelleher died November 13, 2012. He experienced a peaceful death surrounded by his wife, children and loving friends. A fourth generation Seattleite, Richard was born August 19, 1928. He was the son of Campbell and Margaret Kelleher and grandson of Daniel Kelleher, one of the founders of Seattle First National Bank. Richard grew up on Capital Hill, attended Broadway High School, and graduated from the University of Washington School of Law. Richard practiced law with great passion up until August 2012. He also worked to create alternative schools for marginalized youth. One of his greatest joys was navigating the waters around Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands and Desolation Sound. Richard's love of yachting was contagious, inspiring others to follow his lead and join him in his explorations at sea. Most of all, Richard enjoyed engaging in robust discussions on current or historical issues at social gatherings; he was a life-long student of history and politics. Richard was dedicated to his children and grandchildren, attending all important events in their lives with great enthusiasm. Richard is survived by his wife, Deborah, three children Catherine (Cass), Matthew, Molly, their spouses, and five granchildren. A celebration of the amazing, fun and colorful life of Richard Lee Kelleher will be held at the Seattle Yacht Club on December 28th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Dad, Grandpa, dear friend, we will miss you dearly.

Bon Voyage, Captain . . . we wish you a following sea!
