R.L. "Bob" Morgan

Bob was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Harvard University, eventually finding his way to San Francisco. There he discovered three enduring passions: Internet technology, sea kayaking, and his wife and family. After relocating to Seattle in 1999 Bob's career and family flourished as did new interests in bread baking, soccer viewing and Kooikerhondjes.

Bob was an information technology visionary in identity and access management and led national and international projects for internet development in research and higher education. Most recently he was a senior technical architect at the University of Washington and worked with the Internet2 Middleware Initiative. He gained the love and admiration of his colleagues who recognized his unique intellect and wonderful personality.

His many accomplishments include: President of Bay Area Sea Kayakers (1990,) Member of Bread Baker's Guild of America, Internet2 President's Leadership Award and Member of Internet Engineering Task Force.

Bob loved travel, pursuing his interests wherever he went. He sought out the best boulangeries in Paris to obtain special flour to perfect his own baguettes. He traveled to Nijmegen, NL to get a Kooikerhondje puppy. He collected public transit maps from all of his travels.

He leaves behind his wife Eve Perara and daughters Annika and Julia, his brother Mike, puppy Oliver and many cousins, in-laws, nieces and a nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Marion Morgan and his beloved dog Cali.

A memorial for Bob will be held at the Walker-Ames room on the UW campus on Sunday, July 29 at 11 am. Remembrances may be made to the Washington State Employees Credit Union account, "Donations for Bob Morgan," a college fund for his two daughters.
