Robert Ferguell Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Franklin Ferguell, age 78.
He was born May 6, 1939 in Kingston, New York as the first son of John and Ethel Ferguell. He passed away suddenly on March 1, 2018 after a courageous battle through open heart surgery.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lorraine, son John, daughter in law Adrienne, son Jeffrey "Bubba" and "sister" Char Kostanich; two grandchildren, Alexander and Kaylin and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Dick.
Bob attended Lincoln High School in Seattle, during these years he developed a passion for cars, notably hot rods. He could always spot a '40 Ford on the road. While at Seattle Community College Bob was drafted in the US Army in June 1961. He was in the special-forces division as a paratrooper, Airborne 2nd / 503rd division, Vietnam. Along with serving his country, he found time to open his first and only bar. He received an honorable discharge in October 1963. After his military service, Bob began working at Bloch Steel Industries. He was there for over 50 years until his retirement in 2014.
Bob was involved in many organizations. He was President of Ballard Little League, a Shriner at Nile Temple and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was an Honorary Lifetime member of Ballard Elks Lodge No. 827, and Past Exalted Ruler. Bob cherished these roles for his ability to contribute and for the friendships he made.
Bob really loved his cars which included a number of Corvette's and Cadillac's. He loved golf and gambling, most of all slot machines. A day at the casino was a good day for Bob. Traveling with family and friends was also a favorite. His favorite destination of all was Maui, Hawaii. Here he could bask in the sun all day and enjoy a barbeque at night.
We will all miss Bob tremendously for what he demonstrated to us all.
A Celebration of his Life will be from 1:00 pm - 4:00pm, May 6, 2018 at the Ballard Elks Lodge, 6411 Seaview Avenue NW, Seattle, WA 98107
