Robert Odom Obituary

Robert I. ODOM, Sr. March 21, 1922 ~ March 17, 2011 Robert I. Odom, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2011, after a brief illness just days before his 89th birthday. Bob was born in Seattle at Swedish Hospital. He attended St. Joseph's elementary school, graduated from O'Dea high school in 1940, and went on to Seattle University (then Seattle College.) His education was interrupted by the onset of World War II, when he joined the US Army, and his tour of duty included landing at Utah Beach during the Normandy invasion. In 1946, after leaving the military, he returned home to study at Gonzaga University in Spokane and received his law degree in 1949. Bob worked as a successful trial lawyer for many years in Seattle, com- pleting his career at the law offices of Preston, Thorgrimson, Ellis and Holman. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosemary Knowlton Odom, and their two sons and family of whom he was extremely proud, Stephen R. and Robert I. Jr., wife Helen and daughter Margaret. The Odom family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Swedish Hospital, for the dedication and compassionate care they extended to Bob during his illness. A public mass will be offered for Bob on Monday, March 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at his parish church Christ the King, 405 N. 117th, Seattle, 98133. Memorial donations in Bob's name can be made to the O'Dea High School Scholarship Fund, 802 Terry Ave., Seattle, 98014, or to the Christ the King Church Capital Campaign Fund at the above address.

Dear Rosemary and Family: We were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Bob was a wonderful friend to my dad from boyhood and I was privileged to have become acquainted with him when we both worked at the Preston law firm. I'm sure God has tucked him into a very special place in heaven. Sincerely
