Roscoe Mitchell Obituary

Roscoe Reeby Mitchell

Born 5-1-24 in Custer Township, MN

Died 2-24-16 in Seattle, WA

Roscoe was one of 8 children born to Roscoe and Ida Mitchell. He married Irene (Almhjeld) on February 24, 1943. They enjoyed almost 63 years of marriage before her passing in February 2006. He rejoined his beautiful bride on what would have been their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Roscoe was a proud member of the US Army Air Corps in WWII, Bomber Group 487, stationed in Lavenham, England. He was a very involved member of the Masons, attending meetings regularly and serving in many positions. He was also an honored member of the VFW. Roscoe has been an active member of the Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in North Seattle for many years. The last 4 years he has also enjoyed his "family" at the Victoria Apartments in Lake City. Roscoe retired after 34 years with the Boeing Company as an Electronic Technician.

Roscoe leaves behind his two sons, Rick (Sue) and Mike, his two grandsons David (Kristyn and special great-granddaughter Irene) and Conrad (Kelli, Ronan, Nora), 2 brothers, 1 sister, and many other beloved family members and friends.

Special thanks to the nurses/staff on the 17th floor of Virginia Mason, and to the nurses/staff at Foss. Your compassion has made this journey just a little bit easier.

Thanks, dad, for your kindness, love, generosity, and guidance. We love you so much and will miss you every day.

A memorial will be held at Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, 10005 32nd Ave NE, Seattle, on March 5th at 1:00pm. Donations may be made to the Royal Arch Masons Children's Heart Foundation, PO Box 223, Marysville, WA, 98270.

We truly enjoyed the time spent with Roscoe, the card games, the stories he shared, and his delicious fresh baked cookies. He always put a smile on the faces of the people who were fortunate enough to know him.
Sincerely, The Michellene & Daniel Steinberg Family

Such an amazing, brave and inspirational man. He always brought his positive energy and beautiful smile to our EnhanceFitness classes. He always would say "It's a good day if you can touch your toes!" He will be greatly missed. Sending heartfelt condolences.

Thank you, Ree, for being such a wonderful father-in-law for the past 40+ years. I have been so blessed to be a member of the Mitchell clan through so many happy times. We have laughed together, cried together, and everything in between. Most of the memories are happy and filled with family. I wouldn't want it any other way. I love you, and I will miss you more than you think. Thank you for your generosity and kindness, and for always being such a great example for my boys. Your legacy will live on through them.
