Roy Eugene SCOTT has left on his final flight... Roy Eugene Scott passed away May 1, 2012 at Edmonds, Washington. He was 72 years old. Roy was born December 19, 1939 in Springfield, Illinois to Harold A. and Sarah Withrow Scott. He grew up in Springfield; as a teenager he decided to head west, where he worked several jobs before he began at Boeing in 1966. He loved to work on cars, tuning up and bodywork, so he took his auto repair skills to Boeing where he excelled in repairing metal parts and items that other people said couldn't be repaired. He loved to see the look on their faces when he accomplished "what couldn't be done". He was known as a master at rigging 747 doors and the "go-to-guy" for interior work. His second love was travel; he spent many years in AOG (Aircraft on Ground) as an AOG union steward and traveling all over the world to work on airplanes. He went to Thailand on a job and fell in love with the country and its beauty. After 35 years at Boeing, he retired in 2000 and divided his time between Seattle and Bangkok where he had many friends. He loved having his "long vacation" to Thailand every year, then returning to Seattle to spend time with his friends here. Roy never met a slice of pie he didn't love, especially with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. He is survived by his aunts and uncles: Eva Taylor of Chillicothe, Mississippi; Don Scott of Bath, Illinois and Gene Scott, New Baden, Illinois; many cousins and his adopted family: John and Pat Jorgensen, Paul McKillop, Marty McDermott, Karl, Katy, Bill and Dick Teppner; and a wide circle of AOG and Boeing friends. When Roy was a child, he had rheumatic fever and spent time in hospitals so his favorite charity is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, May 12 at Evergreen-Washelli, 18224 103rd Avenue NE, Bothell. Reception to follow. Roy's spirit is free now to find that airplane or car somewhere that needs "fixin".
