Shawn Kellogg Obituary
Shawn Loren KELLOGG Shawn was born November 4, 1974 in Nairobi, Kenya, to Richard and Peggy Kellogg. He died April 2, 2011 at Providence Hospital, Everett. Shawn grew up in the sunshine of Kisumu, Kenya, and moved to the Seattle area with his family when he was 5½ years old. He attended North Seattle Christian School, Shoreline Community College, and Northwest University. He rowed on the Green Lake Crew, and enjoyed it immensely. Shawn served in Youth With A Mission in Switzerland and Bolivia. He worked at all kinds of jobs, and was good at whatever he did. Shawn enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, motorcycling, SCUBA diving, hiking and camping, and hanging out with friends. He fished in Alaska out of Dutch Harbor. Shawn had plenty of struggles in life, and always thought he would be able to overcome them. Now his struggles are over. He loved Jesus, and wanted to be used of God. Shawn was a lover of people, and people enjoyed Shawn. He was great fun to be with and talk to. Shawn is survived by his parents; his brother, Chad; his grandmother, Leona Cettolin; his aunts, Kathryn Kellogg, Debbie Kellogg, Paulette Stickland, and Sheryl Love; his uncles, Brent Kellogg, Bill Stickland, and Don Stickland. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 7 at The Westside Church, 7758 Earl Avenue NW, Seattle, WA 98177. Memorial gifts may be made to New Heart Place, care of Westgate Chapel, 22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA 98020.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Ric and Peggy, I haven't talked to you in a while but I was just going to Shawn's Facebook page and then this site when I realized what happened. I think of you often and hope that Shawn is now at peace. You are and have always been in my prayers. You were wonderful to me Peggy and I will never forget that.

To Shawn's family - you don't know me but I was on staff at YWAM Lausanne when Shawn was there (1990?). Shawn and I had several excellent mountain bike adventures in the Swiss hills and woodlands which I remember with great fondness. He was an effervescent young man back then and even though I haven't seen or spoken with him since I am truly saddened by this news. May God be with you all at this time.

My first memory of Shawn is from probably kindergarten or first grade. We were out on the playground and he was getting all dirty playing in the mud. I asked him why he was doing that and with a glimmer in his eye and his infectious smile he said, "because I'm African!". To me that is Shawn in a nutshell. Love ya bud. We will keep you in our hearts as you smile down upon us.

When I sit back and reflect on all of the memories..so many come to mind. from hanging at Derek's house in Seattle to working at the Chevron with you in Mt Lake Terrace. We remember Shawn in his younger years. Very sweet and full of energy. I (Robert) got to see him on a job site in Seattle (maybe 2001), with my son Bill. Shawn was the general contractor on a remodel job. Bill and I did the electrical wiring. He was working hard, and it was good to see him again after so many years. We lost our son David in 2007, so our hearts ache for you, Rick and Peggy, and our prayers will be there for you as we know the journey that you are embarking on. We love you. Seeing him in the arms of Jesus....no longer struggling is what keeps us going.

Hi my name is Bill Johnson I was great friends with shawn, and he and I had made plans to have him fly to AZ were I live to spend some time with him, shawn was always sweet and kind to anyone he met, he was funny and was one of my best friends I have ever had I will miss him alot, but now hes free in heaven with our Lord Jesus, he Will be missed by many. I wish I could go to the funeral, but I just found out just now and I have to go to dialysis, and I cant miss any of those or I could die or get kicked off the transplant list. but I send my condolences to his loved ones. he will always have a special place in my heart. I am so sorry for the families loss. I knew Shawn from NSC. While I never knew him well, what I do rememebr about him was how he always was smiling. He had a smile and laugh that was infectious and a joyful spirit. RIP Shawn, you can finally rest.
