Shirley Funabashi Obituary

Shirley Carline FUNABASHI (Johnston) Carline passed away at her home in Long Beach, CA on March 18, 2011 at the age of 76. She was born in Walla Walla, WA on December 8, 1934. Car line was raised in Seattle, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952, and attended the University of Wash ington and WWSE. As an early stew ardess (flight attendant) with United Air Lines, she moved to Chicago and later settled in Los Angeles where she married and raised two children. Most of her career was spent in banking, savings and loan, real es tate, and ultimately as a licensed (Loan) Escrow Officer for over 30 years. Retirement brought travel and more weekdays playing Bridge with friends. Later years would be challenged by Parkinson's disease and other ail ments, but she fought valiantly and never lost her spark and zeal for life, especially meeting new people. She is survived by a son Craig (Stephanie) Funabashi, daughter Jill (Guy) Muranaka, and five grandchildren: Amy, Kimberly, Catherine, Michael and Mark. Also, three sisters: Kay (Elmer) Eckart, Sue Adams and Joy Abbey-Adams, a nephew, four nieces, and their chil dren. At mom's request, no formal services will be performed. Her fam ily respectfully suggests that dona tions may be made to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation at nwpf.org. or the charity of your choice. Rest in peace Mom.

I met Carline and got to know her for a short time here in Seattle. She was a lovely person and I already miss her spirit. I wish her and her family peace. Bob Hedlund, Windermere Real Estate, Ballard.
