Shirley (Lee) H. Michel FERBER 09/17/1924 ~ 02/02/2011 Lee, as she preferred to be called, was born in New Orleans, LA to Julia and Clarence Hubbell. She grew up in New Orleans, graduated from Nichols High School and attended Tulane University. Living in New Orleans she learned to appreciate good food and became an excellent cook. Lee loved to travel and attend live theater. She is survived by her husband Burton; daughter Susan Michel of Germantown, MD; son Randy Michel of Kent, WA; and granddaughter Alexandra Michel of Seattle, WA and many family members throughout the country. She kept in contact with her extended family and many life-long friends. Lee worked for The Boeing Co. and was proud to have been a part of the Apollo Space Program in New Orleans and the Apollo Tie Program in Washington D.C. When the Apollo program ended, the family moved to Bellevue, WA where they lived for 37 years until moving to a retirement community in Bothell, WA. Lee was a special person, a loving devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her life, family, and many friends. Goodbye Mammalita - Shirlee-bird. Lee,
You'll always be in my memory because of your charm, your grace, and your way with people. I've never forgotten how when we met in 1965, you spoke with me as if I were an adult, even though I was just 13. I became a fan of yours right then and there.
I enjoyed the few opportunities I had to be in your company, and I'm so very grateful for what seems just a few hours of conversation with you. I found you to be a truly unique person in my life. I love you and will never forget you.
