Stella M. Oswick Obituary
Stella M. Oswick

Stella Mae Oswick died peacefully at home on November 19, 2013 at age 95. She was born in Castleford, Idaho on September 9, 1918, the sixth of fifteen children born to Robert and Pearl Naillon. Stella and her family moved to Washougal, Washington when she was about six years old and she attended public schools there. As a young woman, she worked at the Crown Zellerbach paper bag factory and at the woolen mill in Camas, Washington. Then during WWII, she moved to Seattle to work for Boeing, wiring electrical panels for military planes. During this time, Stella attended a dance at a place called "Dreamland" in downtown Seattle and met the love of her life, a handsome sailor named Sigurd Oswick.

They married on November 6, 1945 and soon after bought a little cottage in the Magnolia neighborhood, where they lived out their days. Stella worked as a telephone operator for many years in Seattle, then became a full time homemaker when her daughter was born. Stella was a warm and witty person who made friends wherever she went. She was continually engaged in acts of kindness, which often included her homemade rolls and raspberry jam. She was smart, perceptive, physically fit, always well organized, and a faithful church member throughout her life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. We are comforted by the belief that she is now enjoying a happy reunion in heaven with her dear husband, parents, brothers and sisters, and many friends. The Oswicks are survived by their daughter, Katheryn.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2415 31st Ave. W., Seattle.
