Sylvia Claeys Obituary

Sylvia Dorothy CLAEYS Sylvia Dorothy Claeys, 89, peacefully entered into eternal life while at home February 3, 2011 with family surrounding her in prayer. Sylvia was born February 18, 1921 in Roslyn, WA, daughter to Nick and Josephine (Ozanich) Chebuhar. Sylvia moved to Seattle in 1934 where she graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Griffin Technical College. In 1947 Sylvia married Henry, the love of her life, and together they raised three children. She was an active member of St. George parish for 77 years, working diligently as a volunteer at both the church and St. George School. Her family and her faith were her passion, lovingly nicknamed "St. Sylvia" as she blessed all she met with such love and grace. Her hobbies included baking, sewing and gardening - she shared these talents generously with all those around her. Sylvia is survived by a daughters Christine Miller (Marty) and Marie Olson (Steve), son Joseph, grandchildren Alexa Miller, Jennifer Wilk (Duncan), Tara Miller, Brian Olson (Andrea), Kristin Wood (Jon), Connor Claeys and McKenzie Claeys, great grandchildren Kellen and Evelyn Wilk as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and close friends. The rosary will be held Monday evening February 7th at 7:00 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday February 8th at 10:00 a.m., also at St. George Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Chebuhar-Claeys Memorial Fund for St. George School c/o Dain Rauscher 303 5th Ave. South, Suite 100 Edmonds, WA 98020 or Group Health Community Foundation Hospice Fund Dept. 4194 P.O. I am sorry about your loss. Your mom use to take great care of my grandmother, Mary Christafaro and I really appreciated that. She also always made our Thanksgiving pumpkin pies, which were delicious. She was a special lady.
