Victor DiPietro Obituary

Victor DiPIETRO On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, Victor DiPietro passed away suddenly at his home in Des Moines, WA with his wife, Diana, at his side. Victor was an outstanding and very generous person giving selflessly to many organizations and under-privileged people throughout the world. He was extremely involved with several branches of the military, providing entertainment for the troops to the local professional sporting events in Seattle. He was honored to throw out the first pitch at the Mariners' Fan Appreciation Day in 2009. Victor was born in Kent,WA on July 17, 1934 to Vincenzo and Incoronata DiPietro who preceded him in death. He was the last of three children born. His brother Dominic (Marian) preceded him in death in 1999 and he is survived by his brother Arthur (Violet) DiPietro. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Diana; sons, Vincenzo (Michiko) DiPietro, Ty Ribera, Casey (Tiffany) Ribera; grandchildren Hayley and Jaxsyn Ribera; and several nieces and nephews. He took pride in his humble upbringing and dedicated himself to pursue a better life for him and his family, thus making him the generous, loving, honest and moral person he became. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father and grandfather and uncle and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be remembered and loved by so many because of his great listening skills and sense of humor. He conquered his dream of becoming a great golfer and an exceptional pilot. He was the owner of Inco Express, a large transportation firm on the West coast and continued his career with many commercial real estate holdings. Victor was past President of the Washington Trucking Association, member of the Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle, Morningside Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA and the Plantation Country Club in LaQuinta, CA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at St Francis of Assisi Church, 15226 21st Avenue, Burien, WA 98166. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109; Medic One, MS359747, 325 Ninth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104; or any charitable organization of your choice. It just doesn't seem like 10 years has past. It's just that way when you think of someone so frequently and often ask him for advice. His advice is always solid, whether business or personal. Kay and I have vivid recollections of our first meeting. Before we even met him, he had agreed to drive us from a convention we were at in Orange County to Palm Desert, and let us be guests at his house for 4 days! All it took was the hour and 30 minute car ride to know this was a very special person and we wanted him in our life! About 30 years later we said good bye, but what a trip! We were given a friendship that never quit, first with Vic and also later included Dianna. (Vic's great match and perfect companion.) We laughed until we cried, and received advice he didn't even know he was giving. You're not good friends until you've had a couple fight's and how I remember those. Particularly one in Nashville, during a golfing trip. Vic supported the trip to Nashville and Chicago on his plane. I made a thankless screw up and deserved Vic's wrath. I received no pissed off language , but instead the frightening Italian eye, followed by an hour of silence. Certainly memorable and when I screw up I see and feel it again! We love you Vic. You lived a life that deserves all the superlative's that all these people people are writing about you! Thanks for your love and friendship!

Just like to share a quick story ..That I share with everbody who brings up Vic ...
About 25 years ago I had tragedy in my family . My three year old son was Kicked by a horse in the head and was in harbor view many weeks .... In a coma was a very serious accident and I did not know if he would live or if he would be a vegtable or what ..(My son Colbey turned out just great , but for a long while did not know)

But thing I remember is Vic reached out to me called me on the phone .. And gave me his heart felt feelings ..
What was so special about that phone call .. Was Vic did not really know me real well ...I knew him through a mutual friend Lowell Dayton .And golfing with him at the 500. ..I will never forgot about that phone call and how much it meant to me ...Very Special Man

Victor - Thank You for being part of our lives and demonstrating true Patriotism. I will always remember you and your beautiful family and how you embraced each Soldier and their family that came into contact with you. The gifts you gave to young Soldiers, far from home, were more than just a baseball or football game. You gave a lifetime experience that each will carry with them. On behalf of all the Soldiers and their families of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Thank You.

Victor for the longest time I thought you were an old fisherman, in a way you were. I will miss you stopping and talking with me and your stories of growing up in Kent Valley. You were a such great advocate of taking care of the service members and looking after the Headquarters Company Soldiers and their families during Christmas and the Mariners Baseball Season. You touched so many in the Puget Sound military and veterans community, you will not be forgotten. Lieutenant Colonel Patricia A. Daniels, US Army Reserve Retired.
