Obituary Condolences

William Clifford SANDERS William Clifford Sanders, 80, Seattle, Washington, died September 28, 2002. He was born February 25, 1922, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Harry and Estelle (Monroe) Sanders. Raised and schooled in Portland, he graduated from Jefferson High School. He graduated from the University of Colorado and received his Masters Degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. During WWII, he served in the Navy and received his commission at Notre Dame in Indiana. He attended a number of military schools including the Pratt-Whitney Engine School in Hartford, Connecticut, as well as naval schools in Memphis, Corpus Christi and at the end of WWII, was discharged from the San Diego Naval Base. Married to Mildred Krahmer June 6, 1944, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Blooming (outside of Cornelius, Oregon), the couple has lived in Seattle since the mid-1940's. An aerospace engineer, Mr. Sanders worked at Boeing from 1946 until his retirement in 1986. He was involved in foreign technology and was a protégé of Max Munk, the prominent aerospace engineering pioneer who is particularly recognized in the area of rocket science. Confirmed in the Beacon Hill Lutheran Church in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Sanders also was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics, The Elks Lodge, Seattle Opera Association and the Seattle Art Museum. Passionate about their love of travel, he and his wife took annual cruises and have traveled the world. He enjoyed golfing, computer and had even built his own radio and stereo equipment. He is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Clark. Survivors include his wife, Mildred K. Sanders of Seattle, WA; brother Harry Sanders, Estacada, OR; brother-in-law Donald L. Krahmer of Gresham, OR; local nieces & nephews include: Donald L. Krahmer of Tigard, OR, Michael Scott Krahmer of Portland, OR, Kristé Eros of Hillsboro, OR, Marilyn Herndon of Portland, OR, Dr. Jerome Zech & Dr. Robert Zech, both of Seattle, WA; and cousin Admiral Lando Zech, Washington, D.C. Memorial Services for Mr. Sanders will be on Friday, October 4, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home. Private committal will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon. Memorials may be made to the Casey Eye Institute, 3375 S.W. Terwilliger Boulevard, Portland, OR 97201. Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
