William Lewis Obituary

William LEWIS William (Bill) Lewis, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, born April 5, 1924in Toledo, OH, to Charles and Yee She Lewis, died of congestive heart failure on May 11, 2011, in Seattle with his family by his side. A World War II veteran, he served two years in England as an air reconnaissance photographer in Europe. After the war, he married Jane in Minneapolis and stayed devoted to each other for 65 years. Bill graduated from the University of Toledo with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He and his family moved in 1961 to Seattle to work for Boeing and retired after 24 years. Bill loved and cherished sharing time with his family and friends fishing, hunting, and clam-digging. Most of all he loved to cook, showing his love through his most favorite pastime. Bill is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Karen, Charles, Samiya, and Richard; his grandchildren, Kristina, Victoria, and Benjamin; sisters, Mary and Nancy; and extended family. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel, 27221 156th Ave. S.E., Kent, WA, 98042, followed at 1:30 pm by a military service at Tahoma Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street, Kent, WA, 98042. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill's memory to the American Heart Association, http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/, or the American Diabetes Association, http://www.diabetes.org/donate/. I worked with Bill years ago at the Boeing Company in Maintenance Publications. He was always happy and a true delight to be around.
May you all remember the smiles you shared....I know he brought many smiles to his friends, co-workers...and me. May you find strength in each other at this difficult time.
