WILLIAM SWIGART Obituary

William SWIGART William Swigart, a resident of Seattle and Camano Island died Sunday June 4, 2011 at home with family. Bill attended Roosevelt High School in Seattle and achieved the rank or Eagle Scout. Soon after graduation Bill joined the Navy. When finishing his tour he attended Stanford University and New York School of Design. While at Stanford he was editor of the Stanford Daily. After completing his education he joined his father in the family business, Swigart Furniture. In the following years Bill opened several furniture stores and a wholesale showroom. Later he represented furniture and clock companies. Collecting and selling art and antiques was a passion of Bill's and he continued doing it into retirement. Bill was an avid sports fan and golfer. He loved spending time with his family on Camano Island. Bill is survived by his wife and forty year companion, Gwynn, sons, Torry Drysdale (Norma) Tad Drysdale (Melissa) Robert Swigart (Norma), Daughters, Darcy Drysdale (Steve Edlund), Sharon Bethel, Susan Brakstad (Mark), and Sally Simpson (Rich). Grandchildren, Drue Drysdale, Peter and Ian Edlund. Nathaniel and Justin Bethel, John, Marcus and Alex Brakstad and Clark Swigart. A memorial service will be held at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church on Camano Island, WA, June 12th at 1:30pm. Remembrances may be sent to Stanford University. Billie was one of the most talanted and sophisticated man, I was privileged to know! My life was better for knowing such a person! My thoughts and prayers are with you Gwynn, Tad, Darcy, Torry and Bobby. I am sorry for your loss!
