Winnifred MALLINSON Obituary

Winnifred M. MALLINSON Winnifred 'Win' Mallinson passed away in Seattle on February 5, 2011, at the age of 90. Her passing was pain-free and peaceful, and she was surrounded by those who loved her. Win was born March 18, 1920, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a young woman, she joined her parents and her two brothers in moving to Vancouver, B.C. At a public dance at the Vancouver 'Y,' she met her future husband, Arch Mallinson. The two were married for 54 years. A Seattle resident since 1962, Win was an outgoing, kindhearted and generous person described by those who knew her as 'sweet,' 'ladylike' and 'very special.' She enjoyed reading suspense novels and mysteries, dining out, and visiting Starbucks for vanilla lattes. True to her English roots, she also loved a good cup of tea. During her lifetime, she enjoyed traveling with her family to Great Britain, Hawaii and the Caribbean, as well as to British Columbia, the Oregon coast and California. Win was preceded in death by her husband and brothers Douglas and Leonard. She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind: her daughter Patricia Mallinson, of Seattle, and a circle of loving friends. Win's survivors extend their heartfelt appreciation to Northwest Hospital's ICU nursing staff for the exceptional care they provided her in her final days. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 17, at 2:00p.m. at Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N. 78th St., Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
