W.W."Bill BENDER Jr. Died on April 6th 2011. Born in Tacoma on may 17th 1923 to Wilbur W. Bender Sr and Frances McGowan Bender. Attended schools in Tacoma and Seattle graduating from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1942. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 serving in the 5th Marine division on Iwo Jima. Married Patricia "Ann" Miller on September 18th 1948 in Port Angeles. graduated from University of Washington in 1949. Army reserve from 1949 to 1954. Past president Port Angeles Jaycees. Past vice president and international director Washington State Jaycees. Retail and wholesale carpet business for 40 years. Past president N.W. Carpet Club and past president Public Links Seniors of Washington State. Member of VFW, American Legion, 5th Marine Association, Marine Corps league, Marine Corps Support Group and Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Former member of Glendale Country Club and Puget Sound Senior Golfers. Also resided in Port Angeles, Spokane, Portland or, and for the past 46 years Bellevue. He is survived by his wife Ann, Bellevue: son Bruce, Shoreline: daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Jerry Germain, Nordland: son Scott and his special friend Holland Baker, Las Vegas: grandson and his wife Ryan and Brianne Bender and great granddaughter Kylie Bender, Lewiston, Id: grandson Jason Bender, Lake City: cousin Shirley Smith and husband Bob of Walla Walla, and many nieces and nephews. There will be no services at his request. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
