Obituary Condolences

Irene F. ANDERSON Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother (Gi.Gi.) passed away with family by her side on June 12, 2010, after a brave struggle with cancer. Irene, daughter of Florence and Jim Wilson was born November 2, 1923 in Seattle WA. She attended Jefferson Elementary, James Madison Middle School, and graduated from West Seattle H.S. She spent several years as a member of the American Legion Drill Team and playing the organ for the Fairmont Church Sunday School. After attending Millburn Business School, she took a position at People's Bank where she met her husband Elmer who was her best friend and "buddy". She left the bank to work for Bethlehem Steel in Seattle and for a short time in San Francisco while Elmer served around the world in the U.S. Coast Guard. Her favorite pastimes were playing the piano and ballroom dancing. Traveling since the 1970s, Irene and Elmer made many trips to Europe and Asia. Irene made two visits to the Clan in Scotland to find her roots, including finding the house where her father grew up. Besides these adventures and the customary family gatherings, Irene enjoyed spending time at the get-away place in Mason County for fishing, clamming and exploring the boondocks. Irene is survived by her husband of 66 years, Elmer; daughter Linda (Bill) of West Seattle; grandson Jim of Vancouver, WA; granddaughter Amy (Jeff) of West Seattle; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Anna, who will all greatly miss her love, kindness, and caring. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 18, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church in West Seattle, 8316 39th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98136. Donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
