Timothy R Malone, 78, passed away suddenly, unexpectedly, and peacefully while visiting in Anchorage, Alaska, on Tuesday, July 16.
He was born in Kellogg, Idaho, and grew up in Smelterville, Idaho and Spokane, Washington.
He graduated from St. Edward's Seminary in Kenmore, Washington, Catholic University in Washington, DC, and Harvard Law School.
He had a distinguished career with the State of Washington Attorney General's Office, beginning in 1959. He thoroughly enjoyed arguing and preparing major cases, including many before the US and State Supreme Courts.
He and Karen Fraser married in Lacey, Washington in 1977 and enjoyed nearly 37 years of a happy marriage, which included an active family life, travel, outdoor recreation, community and political involvements, and many warm, meaningful friendships.
He was widely appreciated for his knowledge, his analytical skills, his wit, his sense of justice, his love of conversation, and his gregarious laugh.
His was a life of faith, service, friendship, and love.
A funeral mass will take place at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Olympia, on Thursday, July 25, at noon.
