Stephany Stenton Gray|
Stephany Stenton Gray said good bye on April 28, 2014. Daughter of William Vere Stenton, Jr. and Merle Atkisson Stenton, she was born February 1, 1936 in Spokane, Washington. She was a graduate of Coulee Dam High School and was a Washington State Cougar Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority member.
Beloved bride of Josef Gray of Bellevue; she is also survived by her six children; Lucian-SouthCarolina; Peter (Dana)-Bellevue; Mark (Kim)-Bellevue; Connie-Bellevue; Philip (Karla)-Kirkland; and Peggy-Seattle. Her sisters Ann Blum (Rathdrum, ID) and Jane Britt (Federal Way) and sister-in-law Joanne Leitch (Olympia) remained her closest companions.
Stephany personified grace and beauty all her life, yet her strength was her most obvious trait...always there for someone to call on, lean on, depend on, count on and trust. With fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her focus was always on family.
She was a member of St. Louise Parish in Bellevue and St. James Cathedral. Her faith guided her life and her life guided others in their faith. She served in her community for many decades working closely with Catholic Charities, the Providence Foundation, Arthritis Foundation and PTA board activities. She provided leadership and organization to the communities she lived and served. Her personal passions beyond family were fly fishing, travel, gardening and her cherished pets.
Services for Stephany will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, 11am, at
St. James Cathedral, 804 9th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Rainier Club, 820 - 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA.
Remembrances in her name can be made to either Catholic Community Services/OMR, 100 23rd Avenue S, Seattle, WA 98144 or Seattle Humane Society, 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005.
