Clair G. Whitney

Clair G. Whitney, 91, passed away peacefully on April 23. Clair was born April 30, 1922 in Roodhouse, Illinois, to Howard and Leah Whitney and attended Illinois Wesleyan University on an athletic scholarship. In 1942 Clair won a Congressional appointment to the United States Military academy at West Point. While at the Academy he excelled and was a Regimental Commander - graduating in 1945 in the Army Air Corps now the United States Air Force. Clair was an experimental test pilot flying his two favorite airplanes, the B-47 and B-52. In 1956 Clair joined The Boeing Company where he worked in Engineering and held International Sales assignments in Tokyo, Sydney, and Hong Kong. Clair was an avid golfer and fly fisherman. He is survived by his wife June, daughters Janice Sampson (Jim) of Albuquerque, NM and Susan Whitney of Seattle, step-son Daniel L. Swenson (Karol) of Seattle, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He will be honored at a family memorial service in the Memorial Garden at Bellevue Presbyterian Church where he will be interred.
