Obituary Condolences

Brig. Gen Richard H. RAINFORTH USMC, Ret. After a life filled with adventure, family and community service, Richard (Dick) Rainforth died peacefully on July 7th, 2009 at the age of 87. He was a highly decorated Marine aviator receiving numer ous decorations, including the Silver Star and three Distinguished Flying Crosses. Dick joined the USMC in 1942 and served for 31 years. He flew many planes, but his favorite was the F-4U Corsair. He served in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. Upon his retirement in 1973, Dick devoted himself to his com munity. He served in many roles, including Scout Master and Mayor of Lake Forest Park and spent many hours supporting his local church. In recent years, he was deeply involved in Rotary International and its many charitable and community activities. He was also a dedicat ed docent and consultant at the Museum of Flight. He will be deeply missed, most especially by his bride of 66 years, Eva Rainforth and his daughter Mary Lee Walsh (Bill) and sons Ken Rainforth (Paz) and Russ Rainforth (Tina) and granddaughter Natalie Walsh. Memorial Service will be held at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 18th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, send memorials in his name to Rotary International, NW Kidney Foun dation or the Museum of Flight.
