Michael Stuart MOWRER Michael Stuart Mowrer, much-adored brother, uncle and friend, died August 24, 2009 at age 62 on Mercer Island, WA. Cause of death was a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor first diagnosed 10 months ago. Michael, son of the late Ralph (Mike) and Mary Ann Mowrer, was born in Sultan, WA April 20, 1947 and grew up in Puyallup, where his lifelong passion for all things raspberry was born. He was a 1965 graduate of Puyallup High, and a graduate of the University of Washington School of Journalism, where he was Editor of the UW Daily, rowed on the crew team and was a member of Delta Chi fraternity. Michael lived for 30 years in Heidelberg, Germany where he edited the Heidelberg Herald-Post. His coverage of high school sports earned him many lasting friends in the Heidelberg community. Survived by brother Scott Mowrer (Jeanie) San Francisco, sisters Rebecca Stinson-Lane of Mercer Island and Sue Mowrer, Seattle. He will be missed by his nephews and niece who will carry on his legacy and appreciation for a well-crafted beer. Michael lived his life with a joie de vivre which continued throughout his illness. Dr. Lynne Taylor, his neuoroncologist, looked forward to Michael's visits, so that she could hear of his latest foray to his favorite French bistro. Our sincere thanks go out to the caregivers at Sunrise of Mercer Island, to the folks at Cafe Presse, and to all of his many friends who helped make Mike's last months on earth enjoyable. Michael will be remembered as a man who squeezed every drop of juice out of life. We invite you to celebrate his life on Sunday, September 20 at Pike Place Brew Pub at 1:00 pm.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Sounds as if he squeezed as much out of life as he could in the short time he had. His life reminds me to do the same.

I'm so glad that we got to have lunch (and rhubarb pie) with him this summer! What a wonderful person--I so admired his outlook on life. We will miss him greatly.

To Scott and your sisters I send my condolences. Although it's been years since I've seen him, us Maplewooders and Vikings are connected throughout life. My sincere condolences to his family.
