Obituary Condolences

Gary Michael PETERSON Gary was born August 6, 1949 in Seattle to Anker and Helen Peterson. He left our loving care on November 8, 2009 after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He passed away in the Bainbridge Island home which he crafted, with his wife Kathryn Kindgren by his side. Gary graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School in 1967. He pursued his ham radio passion throughout those years. He then studied science and engineering, and traveled the world for pleasure as well as for his work in research, oceanography, and consulting. His love of the outdoors included sailing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and golf. Gary will always be remembered for his warmth, quick wit, and as an exceptional host and chef. Gary had an incredible collection of friends, co-workers, and extended family who loved him dearly. There was a tremendous outpouring of support and love as he battled his illness. Gary was preceded in death by his sister Arlene Meehan and his beloved Portugese Water Dog, Orca. He is survived by sister Louise Peterson of Shoreline, niece Carol, husband Jason and grand nephews Taylor, Parker and Reed Viydo of Seattle, nephew Paul, wife Pam and their children Zane, Zoe and Zuri Meehan of Corvallis, Oregon, and brother-in-law Don Meehan of Shoreline. Friends are invited to a celebration of Gary's life at 5:00pm Sunday, November 15 at the Wing Point Golf Club, Bainbridge Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Water Trails Association. Please sign the online Guest Book for the family at: www. cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
