Obituary Condolences

Mitsue K. MATSUI Mitsue Kono Matsui, 91, passed away on April 1, 2010. Born November 3, 1918, in San Francisco, she attended Kinmon Gakuen and San Francisco City College. In 1942, the Kono family underwent relocation to Topaz, Utah. In 1943 Mitzi went to Camp Savage/Fort Snelling, Minnesota, to work for the Military Intelligence Service Language School, where she met Takashi Matsui. They were married for nearly 65 years. She was active in several community organizations including Maple Leaf Elementary PTA, Seattle Buddhist Church, MIS NW, Women's Auxiliary of the Nisei Veterans Committee and Japanese Community Service. Mitzi was predeceased by three brothers, Minoru, Masami & Yoshio Kono. She is survived by husband, Tak; sister, Hisae Sakai; and brother, Nobuo Kono; children Stan Matsui (Lori) and Kazue Nakahara (Hidetaka); grandchildren, Tyrone Nakahara (Kathy), Miye Fonseca (Alberto); David, Steven & Mark Matsui; and great-grandson, Kenzo Fonseca. Memorial service will be Sunday, April 11, 3:00 p.m. at the Seattle Buddhist Church, 1427 South Main Street, Seattle. See website @ washelli.com.
