
John D. LACHER John D. Lacher passed away peacefully on October 25, 2010 at the age of 82, in the loving presence of his family. John was born on July 24, 1928 in Seattle, Washington and attended St. Joseph School in Seattle, Seattle Preparatory High School and the University of Washington. John was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. After being discharged from the Air Force, John began a successful career with the Quaker Oats Company, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing. After which, he continued his career as a consultant for several firms in the Chicago area. While in Chicago, John received his Masters in Business Administration from DePaul University. John returned to Seattle in 1984, where he was part owner of Collision One Auto Repair and Mark 2 Collision until 1994, when he began to enjoy his full retirement. John and Mary celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer and all of their children and grandchildren gathered in Seattle for the celebration and shared stories, smiles and hugs that will be long remembered. John enjoyed reading, boating, traveling and contributing to various animal causes. John is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Jack. John is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Lauren (Richard) of Austin, Texas, daughter Carrie (Howie), of Friday Harbor, Washington; son Eric (Laura), of Batavia, Illinois; son Kurt (Sandy) of Edmonds, Washington; grandchildren Erica (Mike), Jake, Ellen, Harrison and Spencer. John is also survived by brother Joseph of Seattle. A memorial and scattering of ashes is planned in the spring of 2011. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

We were saddened to learn of John's recent passing. He was a good friend and neighbor. It just seems like yesterday that we would see him walking. He will be missed and our condolences at this time.
