Dorothy A. JOHNSTON July 25, 1924 ~ October 25, 2011 Dorothy Ann was born in Santa Cruz, CA. to Thomas S. Brundage and Clara E. Hester. Her family moved to Aberdeen, WA, where she graduated high school in 1942. Dorothy attended Washington State College in Pullman, WA. where she was a charter member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, graduating in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She did her post graduate work, Advanced Study in Educational Counseling, at the University of Washington, Seattle. She married Theodore Jay Johnston ('TJ") in 1947 in Olympia WA, had three children, Jay Thomas, Deborah Ann, and Stephen Theodore. In 1969, she entered the work force, as a bookkeeper for a major material manufacturer. She remained there for two years, until going to work for the Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as bookkeeper and assistant to the Executive Director. She was promoted to Executive Director in 1973, and after 12 years of service, she retired in 1985. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter tending to her elderly parents in their later years. She was a member of the Mountaineer's, loved the outdoors and cherished the time spent at their Hartstene Point cabin. She is survived by her husband Ted, children Jay, Deborah, Stephen, and two grandchildren, Matthew J Bradshaw and Elyse Makenzie Love Johnston. Dorothy was a devout Christian, was committed to God, and in her passing, had no fear. Memorial service will be held at the Southminster Presbyterian Church, 19834 8th Ave. South, Des Moines WA. 98148 on Wednsday, November 2, 2011 at 1:00 pm.
