Curt Cooper Obituary
Curt Cooper

Curt passed away peacefully on June 16, 2012 at the age of 64 following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a gentle, kind and generous person who was a cherished friend to anyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, patient and understanding father and adoring grandfather. Curt took fitness very seriously, and was passionate about his rounds of golf, spin classes, and his very competitive doubles racquetball with a group of equally competitive friends. Curt and Jan enjoyed traveling together, relaxing at Cannon Beach, bike riding and caring for their beautiful home in Inglewood. And he enjoyed cars, an affliction he shared with his wife.

Curt was born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington, the son of Leonard and Margaret Cooper. He attended Walla Walla High School, graduated from Central Washington University, served in the Army Reserve and had a long career in sales in the oil industry. Throughout his life he enjoyed volunteering and giving back to the community. For the last 6 years of his life he volunteered with Senior Services, providing over 300 rides to senior citizens in the Greater Seattle area. His passengers looked forward to his arrival as much as he looked forward to spending time with them.

Curt married Janice McMahon in 1968 and they raised two remarkable children, Cristine, who lives with her family in Redmond, and Craig, who lives with his family in Bellingham. His granddaughters, Mia (age 6), Piper (age 2) and Hazel (age 1) brought great joy and comfort to him as his health declined. Curt will be intensely missed by his wife, Jan; daughter, Cristine (Brian); son, Craig (Melissa); sister, Connie; brother, Chad; and many other loving relatives and countless friends.

A celebration of Curts life will be held on July 8th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. For details see http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/curtcooper

In honor of Curt, the family asks that any memorial contributions go to any of the following: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (www.fhcrc.org), Blue Mountain Humane Society (www.bluemountainhumane.org) or Senior Services (www.seniorservices.org)
