Margaret Mary Smith|
A long time Edmonds resident, died peacefully at home with her children by her side. In a manner fitting to the celebration of a full and richly led life, she left us on her 84th birthday.
Margaret was born and raised in the University District of Seattle. Upon graduation from Holy Angels High School, where she was Valedictorian of her class, Margaret received an academic scholarship to Seattle University.
Margaret met her husband, Gene, in 1948. They dated for four years and married in 1952 in Seattle's Blessed Sacrament Church.
Margaret was an active and devoted parishioner at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Edmonds for more than 40 years. She was a regular fixture at parish events and faithfully supported causes for others in need.
Margaret had a lifelong love of gardening, having a special touch with her beloved rose gardens. She enjoyed sewing, camping, reading and was always up for a road trip to new places. Most of all, she adored her family and nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by them.
She will be remembered for her big smile, sense of humor, gentle nature and generous heart.
Margaret is survived by her seven children; Matt (Nancy) of Brier; Mindy Walderhaug (Stan) of Bothell; Dan (Christy) of Issaquah; Patrick (Sylvia) of Sammamish; David of Bothell; Jennifer Karlick (Nate) of Mill Creek; and Megan of Newport Beach, California; as well as 11 grandchildren.
